Lee Dodge Commack
The top-level Dodge Journey R/T features a 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering 240 horsepower , but it's mission is to propel a considerably heavy 4,150-pound automobile. On the driveway, the Dodge Journey fights to escalade hills even when unloaded with cargo or passengers. Open road passing can be an difficult task , and the six-speed automatic transmission system constantly yo-yos amongst 4th, 5th and 6th gears to keep up with traffic flow. At our test facility, our Dodge Journey R/T test vehicle reached 60 mph in a completely unimpressive 9.3 seconds.
The Dodge Journey's performance at the fuel pump was no better. EPA estimates are 17 mpg in city, 21 mpg on highway and 19 mpg combined. On a cruise from Detroit to Las Vegas and back, we reached an average consumption of 20.3 mpg, while the fuel log showed 18.2 mpg for the Dodge Journey's whole half a month time in our hands.
